Bestselling Publisher Says: Most Authors Are Broke & Have To Keep The Day Job To Make Ends Meet

Debbie Jenkins of PublishingAcademy.com has just co-written a new book to help non-fiction authors avoid the publishing pitfalls and make real money from their words.

The first, provocative yet practical book to come from the, Publishing Academy imprint, is entitled ‘The Wealthy Author’ and shares a proven 6 step approach for making a fulltime income from writing, publishing and selling books.

The Wealthy Author

Debbie says, “Many of the old truths about the publishing game are simply no longer accurate. Publishing 2.0 is here and it comes with a new set of threats and opportunities that the savvy modern author needs to understand and apply.”

‘The Wealthy Author’ breaks the publishing approach down into 6 steps and shows that missing the vital sixth step is the main thing that sets wealthy authors apart from the many struggling authors out there. It also covers the pros and cons of getting a traditional mainstream publishing deal and offers low-risk alternatives for authors keen to make a living from books.

Debbie, who has run independent publisher Bookshaker.com since 2003, says, “There are already plenty of books on getting published or self publishing on the market but almost without doubt these books are referring to the old rules or have a hidden agenda. Doing it the old way is far riskier and far less likely to bring true financial rewards for the majority of authors than playing by the new rules set out in our book.”

This is a book packed with rules or at least guidelines to success, suggestions, experiences, do’s and many don’ts too. The reader is left in no doubt – these guys have been there and definitely done it. This is less of a book about theory, although there is loads of that – it’s actually a practical manual.” – David Miskimin, co- author, The Coaching Parent

THE AUTHORS
——————-
After they successfully self-published and sold-out of their first book entitled, The Gorillas Want Bananas, Debbie Jenkins and Joe Gregory soon caught the publishing bug and decided to pack up our lucrative consultancy business and focus on publishing full time. They set up publishing firm – BookShaker.com in 2003 – and have been paying unprecedented royalties to their authors ever since.

Their original claim to fame is that they managed to publish 37 books and achieve 5 best-sellers (making more than £30,000 in a single day with one book) within their first 2 years while carrying out all aspect of the business single- handedly. They did everything – including editing, typesetting, cover design, PR, sales copy, marketing and invoicing while keeping overheads to a minimum. The way they were able to achieve so much without the need for employees is by systemising every aspect of the business and carefully managing their time.

As this book goes to print they have published almost 100 non- fiction titles through their Lean Marketing Press, BookShaker and NativeSpain imprints and they send their authors nice quarterly royalties of between 20% and 50%.
